Robert Lewandowski gave Poland a 1-0 lead over Greece at halftime Friday, heading in a goal in the 17th minute in the opening match of the European Championship.
The Poles attacked the right side throughout the first half. And with Greece goalkeeper Costas Chalkias coming off his line and defender Vassilis Torosidis too deep to help, Lewandowski headed a cross from the right down and into the net.
Greece was reduced to 10 men in the 44th when Sokratis Papastathopoulos picked up his second yellow card.
Damien Perquis had another chance for Poland in the 37th, controlling a loose ball near the penalty spot, but he sent his shot wide.
Greece's best chance came in the 12th when Fanis Gekas headed a free kick from Giorgos Karagounis wide.
