Pienaar travels with SAfrica squad despite injury

Steven Pienaar has traveled with South Africa's squad for Sunday's 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Egypt despite a knee injury that could rule him out of the crucial match.

The South African Football Association said captain and playmaker Pienaar departed with the team on Thursday after limping out of a training session hours earlier when he was hurt in a tackle.

Of the Tottenham midfielder's hopes of playing in Cairo, coach Pitso Mosimane says ''he's struggling. I will wait until the last moment to take the decision, even if it's on the day of the match.''

Victory for Bafana Bafana would keep them on course for next year's Cup of Nations and almost certainly end three-time defending African champion Egypt's chances of qualifying.
