Park Ju-young's first goal for Arsenal sent the London club through to the quarterfinals of the League Cup, and could earn him a larger role in the league soon.
The South Korea captain curled a shot into the top right corner in the 57th minute to give the Gunners a 2-1 victory over Bolton at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
The 26-year old striker has seen limited playing time since joining from Monaco in the offseason, but impressed manager Arsene Wenger after also forcing two good saves from Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan in the first half.
''The quality of his movement was exceptional,'' Wenger said. ''His finishing is absolutely fantastic. For me, he has shown tonight he is a very, very good player.''
It was only Park's second appearance for Arsenal, the other one coming in the League Cup win over Shrewsbury on Sept. 20.
Wenger said he saw a completely different player compared to that match.
''He's ready to play in league games,'' Wenger said. ''Compared to his first game, where he was a bit inhibited, tonight I felt he played with freedom and showed what a good player he is.''
In the first half, Park curled a shot that Bogdan was able to push it away. Later, he struck a sliding shot that nearly crept inside the near post, but Bogdan used his fingertips to deny the South Korean.
Park scored 25 times in 91 appearances during three seasons in the French league.
