Siem De Jong's double saved Holland's blushes as the Oranje were made to work hard for a friendly win over Indonesia in Jakarta.
Robin van Persie missed a host of chances of in the first half before going off and it was left to replacement De Jong to calm the nerves with a quickfire brace. Arjen Robben's late strike gave the scoreline a polished finish but it was a far from convincing performance from Louis van Gaal's men.
Holland had the ball in the net after a minute as Wesley Sneijder hammered home a rebound from Van Persie but the flag had correctly been raised for offside. Jeremain Lens then picked up a knock and had to be brought off in the 14th minute to be replaced by Robben although the PSV Eindhoven winger did not look to be in too much discomfort.
The visitors were controlling the game in the first 20 minutes and Ruben Schaken presented Van Persie, who had already hit the side netting, with another chance as he beat Raphael Maitimo and supplied a cross but the Manchester United striker could only fire wide.
Greg Nwokolo should have given the home side the lead moments later as a mistake from Erik Peters allowed him to bear down on Jasper Cillessen but the striker's indecision meant the defender could track back and block his shot away.
Van Persie had his best chance just before the half-hour as he headed over the bar from six yards out and had his head in his hands again in first-half stoppage time as goalkeeper Kurnia Meiga did brilliantly to deny him with his feet from eight yards out.
The ex-Arsenal favourite was put out of his misery as he went off at half-time along with Cillessen, Peters and Sneijder who were replaced with Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Kenneth Vermeer, Johnny Heitinga and De Jong.
It took the substitutes just 12 minutes to have a positive impact as the Dutch at last broke through. Schaken gathered the ball on the right and crossed to the back post where De Jong headed home to relieve the tension in the Holland camp.
Andik Vermansah was brought on to replace Nwokolo but De Jong could have had two more moments later as first he blazed over the bar before bringing a smart save out of Meiga. Shortly after it was 2-0 as De Jong had his second. Robben's cross was flicked on inside the area by Schaken and the Ajax man headed home at the far post for a second time.
The home side had their best chance with 15 minutes remaining as Vermansah made a bustling run into the Dutch area but could only put his shot over.
There were banners around the stadium bearing Robben's name and the Bayern Munich forward pleased his fans in the final minute as gathered the ball on the halfway line before beating two men and hammering home to complete the scoring.
