Bundesliga club Mainz says it has signed teenage goalkeeper Loris Karius from Manchester City on a 21/2-year contract, with an additional one-year option.
The 18-year-old Karius has been on loan to Mainz since August. He has played for Germany's Under-19 side and made eight appearances for Mainz' junior team.
Karius went to England when he was 16.
