Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Stevan Jovetic’s latest appearance for Inter Milan has activated the buy clause that will see the Manchester City forward join the Italian’s on a permanent basis.

Montenegrin international Jovetic had been on loan at Inter from Manchester City since 2015.

According to reports in the Italian press, the striker’s appearance in Inter’s weekend victory over Pescara has triggered the buy clause in the agreed loan deal.

Jovetic initially joined Inter Milan last season on an eighteen-month loan deal.

The fee is reportedly in the region of £10.5m.

Inter have been keen on offloading Jovetic over the summer. The talented forward held initial negotiations with former club Fiorentina.

The 26 year-old forward signed for Manchester City in 2013 from Italian’s Fiorentina for a fee close to £22m.

A skilled second striker with a box of tricks, Jovetic struggled with injuries during his time at the club.

The striker made just 39 appearances in all competitions over two seasons for Manchester City. However, he still managed a healthy return of 11 goals, considering the circumstances.

Fans will remember fondly his impressive displays against Liverpool in late August 2014. The forward netted two goals in a 3-1 home win.

Jovetic’s impending exit from the club was cemented when the injury plagued forward was omitted from Manuel Pellegrini’s 2015 Champions League squad, to make space for then new arrival Wilfried Bony.
