Fluminense says it has ended its contract with former Chelsea right back Juliano Belletti, who failed to establish himself as a starter at the Brazilian club because of a series of injuries.
The 34-year-old Belletti played nine matches with Fluminense, only three of them as a starter. He arrived at the club in July 2010, and was a member of the squad that won the Brazilian league last year.
Fluminense announced the player's release through a statement on Tuesday.
He previously played for Barcelona, scoring the winning goal when the Spanish club clinched the 2006 Champions League title.
Belletti was capped 25 times by Brazil and was a member of the squad that won the 2002 World Cup.
