Jose Mourinho to manage charity match at Old Trafford in June
Jose Mourinho will be the manager at Old Trafford on June 5. But it won't be as the boss of Manchester United. He will be leading England against Claudio Ranieri's Rest of the World team for the celebrity Soccer Aid match at the famed stadium.
Mourinho managed the Rest of the World team in the event two years ago and came away with a 4-2 win. Now he's back, but on the other side and with Sam Allardyce as his assistant.
"I want to be the first one to win the Soccer Aid trophy for both teams, England and the Rest of the World,'' said Mourinho.
"Sam and I will make a very good partnership and it will be a great feeling for Claudio to finally lose a match."
Of course, Mourinho has been linked to the Manchester United job for months and come June 5, he might actually be the club's manager and the Soccer Aid match would be his first contest at Old Trafford as the Red Devils' boss. If that's the case, you can bet on even more fans showing up to cheer on United's new boss, which would mean more money for charity, which is great. And even if Mourinho has not yet been hired by then, Man United fans might show up to convince him of taking the job. Again, more money for charity.
All in all, this sounds like a win for everyone involved ... Except for a potential losing team.
