Johnson loaned to Preston North End
Fulham striker and U.S. national team player Eddie Johnson is moving to League Championship side Preston North End on the loan move for the rest of the season, sources told Fox Soccer on Monday.
Johnson has spent most of the season as a reserve player for Fulham, though a rash of injuries in the first half of the season did lead to more playing time for the American forward. He failed to make an impact with those early minutes and had returned to being an unused substitute for the Cottagers.
Richard Motzkin, Johnson's agent, could not be reached for confirmation of the loan move.
Johnson will be joining a Preston North End side locked in a relegation battle. Preston is currently in last place in the League Championship, six points clear of safety with games in hand.
The loan to Preston marks the third loan of Johnson's tenure with Fulham since coming over from Major League Soccer in 2008. The former Dallas and Kansas City Wizards forward enjoyed moderate success with Cardiff City and Greek club Aris FC during loan stints. He is in the final year of his contract with the Cottagers and will be a free agent this summer, and could be poised for a return to MLS.
