Hearts winger could face ban
Templeton appeared to kick out at Hibernian captain James McPake after the defender had fouled him during the 1-1 draw at Easter Road on Sunday.
Referee Willie Collum did not take any action at the time, but Scottish Football Association compliance officer Vincent Lunny is believed to have studied footage from the game as is poised to take action.
The Hearts winger will receive a one match ban if he is found guilty of retaliation.
"It was a boot from David. It might not have been the nicest of tackles from me and it was rightly a foul but you can't just boot someone," McPake said.
"But that's up to the ref or whoever looks back on the game to make a decision."
New Hearts boss John McGlynn added fuel to fire by adding:
"David may have been lucky to stay on but he had taken a bit of treatment. You can't condone this but he has been provoked with the amount of challenges."
