Guadalajara Chivas beats Man United 3-2
Guadalajara Chivas inaugurated its $150 million stadium Friday night with a 3-2 exhibition victory over Manchester United.
The star of the match was Mexican Javier ''Chicharito'' Hernandez, who moved from Chivas to Manchester United over the summer. But he played the opening 45 minutes for his old team, scoring the game's first goal in the eighth minute on a bouncing shot.
Chris Smalling equalized for Manchester United a minute later, but Adolfo Bautista gave Chivas a 2-1 lead in the 38th and Hector Reynoso made it 3-1 on a header in the 59th. Nani narrowed the lead to 3-2 in the 80th.
Hernandez played the second half for Manchester United, but had few chances in front of a sellout of 45,000.
Manchester United played without many of its top stars, including striker Wayne Rooney. By playing the match against Manchester United, Chivas had to postpone a league match against Morelia.
