Defending Bundesliga champion Wolfsburg has fired coach Armin Veh after a nine-match winless streak in all competitions.
Wolfsburg dismissed Veh on Monday after only half a season at the club. The former Stuttgart coach took over last year after Wolfsburg won its first Bundesliga title under predecessor Felix Magath, who left for Schalke.
The decision followed a 3-2 home loss to FC Cologne on Sunday.
Wolfsburg has the top division's second-worst defense, conceding 38 goals in 19 games. The team is in 10th place with 24 points, 17 behind leader Bayer Leverkusen.

There was no immediate word on Veh's successor. Second-team coach Lorenz-Guenther Koestner will be on the bench for the next league game at Hamburg on Friday.
