Ferrara appointed Sampdoria coach
Sampdoria have confirmed the appointment of Ciro Ferrara as their new coach.
Ferrara has left his position as the boss of Italy's Under-21 team to return to club management for the first time since a spell at Juventus in the 2009-10 campaign.
A statement from Sampdoria read: "Ciro Ferrara will be the new coach of Sampdoria. The agreement with the new Partenopeo tactician will be ratified in the next few days."
The 45-year-old Ferrara replaces Giuseppe Iachini, who took over the Genoa outfit last November and led the team to promotion to Italy's top flight via the play-offs.
The statement continued: "The club wishes to thank Giuseppe Iachini and his staff for their excellent and successful work done in recent months, culminating in promotion to Serie A.
"Sampdoria give their best wishes to Iachini and his staff and the best professional and personal fortune for the rest of their careers."
Ferrara is set to sign a two-year contract with the Blucerchiati outfit, with an option for a third.
