Maicon's agent has refused to clarify why his client was kicked out of the Brazil squad last week - but conceded that the defender will probably never be asked to return.

The Roma full-back was sensationally asked to leave the Selecao set-up on Sunday but the team's general coordinator, Gilmar Rinaldi, would only tell bemused reporters of "an internal problem."

There has been widespread speculation about the cause of the expulsion and even reports that Maicon may quit the game, but his representative, Antonio Caliendo, insists that the 33-year-old fully intends to continue his club career.

"Maicon will play a few seasons more yet," the agent told Tele Radio Stereo. "Just like [former Brazil captain] Cafu.

"We know his hobbies outside of the field. Sometimes he has spoken of them.

"However, he is a force of nature at work. And when he quits, I suppose that he will disappear from the world of football.

"I cannot comment on the incident, but I can say that Dunga and Rinaldi are good friends and that if the coach has taken a decision as severe as this, he will not return [to the squad]."

Maicon, who has been capped 76 times by his country, had re-established himself as Brazil's first-choice right-back during this summer's World Cup and started Dunga's first game since returning as coach, against Colombia last Friday.
