Clarets: Cherries want Howe
Burnley have confirmed that an 'unwanted' approach to speak with boss Eddie Howe has been received from Bournemouth.
Howe linked up with the Clarets in January 2011 after cutting his coaching teeth with the Cherries.
He penned a contract which is due to run until the summer of 2014, but is now back on the managerial radar of his former employers.
Bournemouth, who are bankrolled by wealthy Russian businessman Maxim Demin, have enquired as to the possibility to holding talks with Howe regarding a return to the South Coast.
They have yet to be given the green light, but Burnley have revealed that dialogue has been held between the two clubs.
Chief executive Lee Hoos said in a statement released on the Clarets' official website: "Bournemouth have made an unsolicited and unwanted approach for manager Eddie Howe.
"Burnley Football Club would like to stress that no agreement has been reached and Eddie Howe is still Burnley manager.
"No permission has been granted for Bournemouth to speak to Eddie."
