Bosnia-Herzegovina's Chievo defender Zukanovic to join Inter

Chievo have confirmed that Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Ervin Zukanovic is on the verge of joining Inter Milan, with the club expecting the deal to be completed today.

Inter are desperate to rejuvenate their squad this summer after a disappointing season that saw them finish eighth in Serie A, missing out on European football.

The deal will likely involve a player swap with Inter's Ezequiel Schelotto set to make his loan move to Chievo permanent.

"There are still some details to iron out over the negotiations for Schelotto and Zukanovic, although Inter started asking about Zukanovic three months ago," Chievo sporting director Luca Nember told L'Arena.

"Now I'm waiting, aware that there are some other clubs also interested in Zukanovic. It is very unlikely that he will remain with the club."

Atletico Madrid defender Miranda is expected to join Inter in the coming days and Zukanovic could become their second major signing after Geoffrey Kondogbia completed his move from Monaco earlier this month.

Inter are also keen to acquire Marseille midfielder Giannelli Imbula, but the French club rejected an inital loan offer for the 22-year-old.

Zukanovic made 28 Serie A starts for Chievo last season as the club finished 14th in Serie A.
