Besiktas ends contract with ex-Spain player Guti

Besiktas says it has ended its contract with former Spain midfielder Jose Maria ''Guti'' Gutierrez.

Besiktas says it will pay ?1.4 million ($1.9 million) in owed fees to the player. It gave no other detail.

Guti, who joined Besiktas last year on a two-year contract after 15 seasons with Real Madrid, reportedly fell out of grace after failing to return to Istanbul after a break.

The midfielder helped the Istanbul club win the Turkish Cup last season but was reportedly out of form and made few appearances this season.
