Bayern Munich has signed goalkeeper Tom Starke from Bundesliga rival Hoffenheim on a three-year contract.
The 31-year-old Starke will fill the gap left by the retirement of Bayern backup goalkeeper Joerg Butt. Manuel Neuer is the club's and Germany's No. 1 choice. He joined from Schalke at the beginning of the season.
Starke said Wednesday that ''I am looking forward to the big challenge of Bayern.''
Bayern, which plays Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday, finished second in the Bundesliga this season. Hoffenheim was 11th.
