Dusan Bajevic has quit as AEK Athens coach after a 3-1 loss to newcomer Volos in the Greek league.

AEK is fourth last in the standings after conceding goals to Khalifa Sankare, Mario Breska and Javier Umbides on Sunday.

Enraged fans threw chairs at Bajevic and players following the game.

It was the third stint as AEK coach for the 61-year-old Bosnian Serb coach, who played for the club in the late 1970s.

As coach from 1988-96, Bajevic led AEK to four league titles but many fans never forgave him for joining Olympiakos, at which he won three league titles.

His stints from 2002-04 and since 2008 had been fraught with incidents, including at least three punch-ups with fans, the latest at a preseason friendly in August.
