Argentina international goalkeeper Franco Costanzo is leaving Swiss champion FC Basel at the end of the season after failing to reach a deal for a new contract.

Basel says in a statement there are no bad feelings between the club and the 30-year-old Costanzo, who the club says turned down a five-year deal last season.

Costanzo has served as Basel captain and helped win two league championships since joining in 2006 from Spanish club Alaves. He came to Europe after playing once for his country while with River Plate.

Costanzo is set to leave with a third Swiss title as Basel has a five-point lead in the standings with nine matches left.
