Kendall Graveman - Oakland Athletics SP (24 years old)
To pay attention to spring training stats or not? Boasts 3-0 records, 0.54 ERA in 21 IP. However, only 5 regular season IP on resume, not a big K/9 rate and fastball, sinker pitcher w/ not much else at the moment. Could be late-round flier option in standard mixed leagues.
Taijuan Walker - Seattle Mariners SP (22 years old)
After battling shoulder issues most of 2014, he used this spring to reassure the M's & fantasy owners the great height of his statistical celling. Is 3-0, 0.36 w/ 24:3 K:9 ratio in 25 IP. Probably could have got him cheaper in drafts two weeks ago, but one of the top SP4/5's in fantasy to draft.
Ryan Rua – Texas Rangers OF (25 years old)
Won the starting gig in left field. Earned a 28-game cup o’ coffee last season hit .295 w/ two HR / 11 R / 14 RBI. Smacked 32 HR in minors in 2013 (K% above 21%) and hit 18 HR in MiLB in 2014 (K% below 19%). As Halpin noted, AL-only is best format, but keep waiver wire tabs.
Danny Salazar – Cleveland Indians SP (25 years old)
Will start season at AAA-Columbus. Struggled this spring to tune of 10 ER in 11 IP with five HR surrendered. Reason to believe in Salazar is 2014 post-All-Star production which resulted in 5-4, 3.50 ERA with 4:1 K:BB ratio and 3% drop in BB% compared to 2014 first half numbers.
A.J. Pollock – Arizona Diamondbacks OF (27 years old)
D-Backs liked him so much, were OK trading away fellow prospect Adam Eaton to CWS last year. Out of sight, out of mind in 2014 (75 GP) partially why his ADP is 201st. On top of .355 BA with 10 R / 12 RBI this spring, SB threat at great value late – swiped 57 bases at AA/AAA 2012-13.
