Vitor Belfort's 9-year old son following in his dad's footsteps
There haven't been many father and son combinations competing at the highest levels of mixed martial arts outside of Randy and Ryan Couture, but in a few years you may be able to add the Belfort family to that discussion.
Top ranked UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort's 9-year old son is following in his dad's footsteps picking up martial arts at a very young age where he's already been sparring with boxing with his dad coaching ringside.
Belfort told Globo in Brazil that his son -- David 'Guacamole' Belfort -- is already learning the different arts involved with MMA but at such a young age he's obviously not doing anything full contact.
He can learn the different styles of fighting individually and in two videos released by Belfort to the Brazilian news outlet, Belfort's son is boxing a 12-year old boy in a practice match in Florida where the family currently resides.
You can even hear one of the coaches during the sparring session yelling 'he has the 1-2 just like his father'.
There was no explanation given for the boy's nickname 'Guacamole' but at 9 years old he's already developing a right hand that reminds people of his dad's knockout power.
So keep an eye out in about another nine years time because a second Belfort could be storming the UFC Octagon looking for world titles.
