UFC champ Carla Esparza celebrates win with $1,000 sundae

Some fighters like to celebrate after a big victory with a little retail therapy. A win plus a $50,000 bonus check often warrants a little spending for something extravagant.

UFC women's strawweight champion Carla Esparza promised that if she won the title at the end of "The Ultimate Fighter" season 20 that she would treat herself to something very sweet.

So on Monday, Esparza -- along with fellow "TUF" competitor Felice Herrig -- enjoyed the $1,000 "Golden Opulence" sundae from Serendipity 3, a restaurant in New York City.

Yes, you read that correctly -- a sundae that costs $1,000.

The dessert was once listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most expensive sundae in the world.

To give you an idea of what Esparza just ingested: The sundae is made out of three to five scoops of Tahitian bean vanilla ice cream infused with Madagascar vanilla. It's then covered in edible 23-k gold leaf; chocolate syrup made from melted Amedei Porcelana (one of the most expensive chocolates in the world); exotic candied fruits; almonds; chocolate truffles; and marzipan cherries.

That's a championship sundae if there's ever been one!

Thankfully, Esparza avoided the $25,000 hot chocolate a little farther down the menu at the same restaurant.
