Twins bring in veteran reliever Breslow
The Twins have purchased the contract of veteran reliever Craig Breslow.
With Trevor May out for the season following Tommy John surgery, the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday placed May on the 60-day disabled list and replaced him on the 40-man roster by purchasing the contract of reliever Craig Breslow.
The left-handed Breslow is an 11-year major-league veteran and previously pitched in 59 games for the Twins in 2008-09. Breslow has also played with San Diego, Boston (twice), Cleveland, Oakland, Arizona and Miami. He spent 2016 with the Marlins, appearing in 15 games.
Over his career, Breslow has appeared in 539 games, sporting a 3.35 ERA and 1.321 WHIP. Breslow has been equally effective against righties and lefties over his career (.705 OPS vs. righties; .693 OPS vs. lefties).
This spring, Breslow has pitched six innings for Minnesota, allowing one run on three hits with seven walks and five strikeouts. In addition, he was included on Israel's roster for the World Baseball Classic but did not pitch.
