Things are looking better for the Sooners

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:02 p.m. ET

After an 8-5 season things weren't looking great for the Sooners this year.

But check out what's happened.

OU is 9-1 overall and ranked No. 7 in the coaches and Associated Press poll. More importantly, the Sooners have three wins against Associated Press ranked opponents and the No. 7 ranking is OU's highest since last season when it was No. 4 on Oct. 4.

One more win and OU will have a 13th season since 1999 with 10 or more wins.

A lot of the success is due to Baker Mayfield who has now completed better than 70 percent of his passes this season. Mayfield has 31 touchdown passes and just five interceptions this season, throwing for 3,082 yards.

OU plays 9-1 TCU on Saturday in Norman. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 15 in the Playoff Rankings (OU is No. 12 as of Tuesday morning). TCU is 4-3 all time in Norman, Okla., including a 2-1 mark since joining the Big 12.
