Student-athletes killed by former student-athlete in murder-suicide

A pair of student-athletes who suited up for SUNY Geneseo last weekend were murdered by a distraught ex-boyfriend who discovered them together the morning after, police in upstate New York said.

Colin Kingston fatally stabbed Kelsey Annese, a senior guard on the women's basketball team, and Matthew Hutchinson, a senior defenseman on the hockey team, Sunday morning after showing up at the house where Annese and several teammates lived. He then called his father and confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend before fatally stabbing himself, said police, who were tipped off by Kingston's father and discovered the bodies.

Kingston played basketball while attending Geneseo from 2009 to 2013.
