Stoops: Sooners playing Vols is just another game

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:31 p.m. ET

Bob Stoops shrugged off question after question about his Sooners having to play a tough road game.

"We go to stadiums every week," Stoops said at his weekly press conference. "It's always full. We don't do anything different for this game than we do for the others. Why is this different."

Well, this one is a bit different. OU has played in front of more than 95,000 people at the Cotton Bowl and more than 85,000 every home game, but Tennessee's stadium is a bit bigger. There will be 105,000 in Knoxville, Tenn., at Neyland Stadium Saturday and that's what makes this situation different.

"I have a hard time understanding these questions about going to a stadium," Stoops said.

The positive thing from the Oklahoma side is the Sooners have won under Stoops at Florida State, Notre Dame and Alabama. In fact, OU does pretty well in road games, going 13-2 since 2012 with the losses being at Baylor in 2013 and then at TCU last season.
