Steven Kampfer signs two-year contract extension with Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers have signed defenseman Steven Kampfer to a two-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.
"Since we acquired Steven in October, he has been a welcome addition to our organization," Panthers general manager Dale Tallon said in a release. "He has worked extremely hard since his recall and has fit very well into our lineup, contributing both offensively and defensively. Steven is most deserving of this contract extension and we look forward to his continued contributions to our club."
Thanks for all the nice tweets! Grateful to be a part of the @FlaPanthers for 2 more years! This is just the beginning! #Cats

Kampfer, 26, was recalled from San Antonio (AHL) on Feb. 5 and quickly worked his way into Florida's starting lineup as injuries to the team's regular blueliners created an opportunity.
In 18 games with Florida this season, he has recorded one goal and three points while playing 17:57 a game. On special teams, he's averaged 1:12 per game on the penalty kill and 0:27 on the power play.
A fourth-round pick, 93rd overall, of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2007 NHL Draft, Kampfer has registered eight goals and 18 points in 79 career NHL games split between the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Florida.
Kampfer was acquired by Florida on Oct. 6, 2013 from the New York Rangers with forward Andrew Yogan in exchange for forward Joey Crabb.
