Royals option Mondesi, Cruz

Before Friday's exhibition game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Kansas City Royals optioned catcher Tony Cruz to Omaha (AAA) and infielder Raul Mondesi to Northwest Arkansas (AA). 

Both players will be available to participate in the exhibition games Friday and Saturday at Chase Field.

Following the moves, the Royals have 31 players in Major League camp, in addition to left-handed pitchers Jason Vargas and Mike Minor, who are both on the 60-day D.L.  Of the 31 remaining players, five are non-roster invitees.
