Rough Homestead weekend only got rougher for Germain Racing

First, the No. 13 Germain Racing Chevrolet of driver Casey Mears got wrecked out of last Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Even though the accident was triggered by Clint Bowyer and Mears more or less was nothing more than innocent collateral damage, he still ended up being scored 42nd of the 43 cars entered in the race.

So that was bad enough. But then the team's hauler wrecked on the drive back from Florida to North Carolina, making it a double-whammy.

In a Sprint Cup season that saw seemingly more than its fair share of hauler fires, accidents, even one that was stolen, it seemed in a sense a fitting end to it all. At least Mears' team is sponsored by Geico insurance, which should help.

But for Germain Racing, it still wasn't much fun. That was duly noted by crew chief Bootie Barker on Twittter.
