Ronda Rousey would like to play 'Captain Marvel'

It doesn't seem like there's anything UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey can't do these days, so becoming a superhero probably wouldn't surprise anyone.

Rousey is already the most dominant fighter on the planet, not to mention growing her fame in Hollywood with several film roles already under her belt and more being added over the next year.

One of those projects is starring in a biopic based on her own autobiography titled “My Fight/Your Fight,” in which Rousey will play herself in the big screen version of her rise to fame from Olympic judo bronze medalist to UFC champion.

Rousey wouldn't mind turning her attention to an even bigger project if the powers-that-be at Marvel wanted to give her a look in the near future.

During a question-and-answer session on Reddit on Monday, Rousey was asked about her interest in playing a character from the Marvel or DC Universe on screen. While she acknowledged that a lot of the major roles already have been cast, there's one in particular she has her eye on if Marvel is interested.

"Well, a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I'd like to vie for Ms. Marvel," Rousey revealed.

That would be in the upcoming film “Captain Marvel” from Marvel and Disney, which will focus on a character named Carol Danvers, who was once known as Ms. Marvel before transforming into the superhero known as Captain Marvel.

It will be the first female-led superhero film from Marvel with a scheduled release date of July 6, 2018.

"This film has been in the works almost as long as 'Doctor Strange' or 'Guardians of the Galaxy' before it came out," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said, "and one of the key things was figuring out what we wanted to do with it. Her adventures are very earthbound, but her powers are based in the cosmic realm."

Considering the kind of star power and attention Rousey has been receiving lately, attaching her to a movie such as this could be a huge coup for Marvel. She just might need to ramp up the acting lessons.

“Captain Marvel” is being written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, with several notable names in the running to direct, including Angelina Jolie — one of Rousey's favorite action stars, she revealed in a 2014 interview.
