Roman Reigns defeats Sheamus for WWE Championship on 'Raw'

The Roman Reigns reign will last longer than the 5:15 his last championship rule went.

On "Monday Night Raw," Reigns defeated the odds and Sheamus for the WWE championship.

It is rare that he title changes hands on television, but it did exactly that Monday night in Philadelphia.

Vince McMahon returned to "Raw" for the first time in more than a year. After a confrontation with Reigns early in the show, McMahon declared that Reigns would face Sheamus in a title match. If Reigns were to lose, he would be fired and banished from WWE.

In a back-and-forth, rough-and-tumble tussle, Reigns overcame a series of dirty tricks by Mr. McMahon.

Everything from outside interference by Sheamus' cohorts in the League of Nations to McMahon pulling the ref from the ring as he was about to count three.

However, in the end, Reigns overcame evil and the Roman Empire was in charge of WWE.

The event came about a night after Reigns had lost to Sheamus on the "Tables, Ladders and Chairs" pay-per-view.

After that defeat, Reigns erupted, taking out Sheamus and the League of Nations before annihiliating Triple H. Mr. McMahon's son-in-law, with a series of chair shots.

The storyline saw Triple H removed from the ring on a stretcher.

And for one night, Monday, at least, Roman reigns, finally.
