Report: Rangers, Lewis agree on $6M, 1-year deal

A person familiar with the deal says the Rangers and veteran pitcher Colby Lewis have agreed on a $6 million, one-year contract.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the deal is pending a physical on the pitcher's surgically repaired right knee. That exam likely won't happen until after the holidays.

Lewis set career highs last season with 17 wins and 204 2-3 innings pitched. He has won 27 games over the past two seasons since a hip resurfacing procedure that was unprecedented for a major league pitcher.

The 36-year-old right-hander is 71-67 with a 4.81 ERA over 10 major league seasons, eight of those with the Rangers. He started his career in Texas, and returned to the Rangers in 2010 after two seasons in Japan.
