Report: Aldo-McGregor fight could take place at AT&T Stadium
Could the biggest fight in UFC history be headed to the most lavish stadium in the NFL?
According to a report by Yahoo Sports, a scheduling conflict in Las Vegas could force the much anticipated UFC featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and interim champion Conor McGregor to AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Yahoo UFC reporter Kevin Iole reported Thursday that the UFC has scheduled UFC 194 for December 5th, but an Andrea Bocelli concert has already been booked for the MGM Grand Garden Arena on that night.
Las Vegas does not have another venue large enough to hold a fight of this magnitude. McGregor's last fight set a Nevada attendance record with 16,019 fans attending his Interim title fight against Chad Mendes.
After McGregor won the interim featherweight title at UFC 189, UFC President Dana White predicted his fight against Aldo would be the biggest event in UFC history during his post-fight press conference.
If that statement is true, then AT&T Stadium could be the perfect venue to hold this super fight.
McGregor was originally scheduled to fight Aldo UFC 189, but Aldo was forced from the fight with a rib injury two weeks before the event.
"Jerry World" is no stranger to holding big-time fights. In 2010, AT&T Stadium hosted two Manny Pacquiao fights, where he defeated Joshua Clottey in front of 50,994 fans and Antonio Margarito before 41,734 fans.
The WWE is calling AT&T Stadium home for Wrestlingmania 32 on April 3, 2016.
Iole reported that negotiations were ongoing with AT&T Stadium for the fight at that the UFC President Dana White could not be reached when contacted about the report.
