The Cincinnati Reds traded OF Marlon Byrd to San Francisco Giants for Double A RHP Stephen Johnson. Johnson was the Giants sixth round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft.

Marlon Byrd had cleared waivers, enabling the Reds to trade him to any team. With the Reds this season, Byrd was hitting .237 with a .286 OBP and .448 SLG. In 359 at-bats, Byrd had 85 hits, 13 doubles, 3 triples, 19 home runs and 42 RBIs.

With the Giants Double-A affiliate, Johnson was 3-0 with a 3.41 ERA in 58.0 IP, striking out 68 and walking 29.

To replace Byrd on the roster, the Reds called up OF Ryan LaMarre from Triple-A Louisville. The righty is hitting .257 with a .307 OBP and .400 SLG on the year in Triple A.
