Thursday is was Cleveland bullpen coach Kevin Cash's chance to try and impress the Texas Rangers as he interviewed for the managing vacancy.
Cash is the sixth person to interview for the job. Interim manager Tim Bogar and Alex Cora are expected to interview for the job Friday, which would complete the first round of interviews.
Cash, 36, is just four years removed from his playing career as a journeyman catcher and has never managed at any level.
The Rangers have already interviewed Mike Maddux, Steve Buechele, Joe McEwing, Torey Lovullo, and Jeff Banister for the job. Texas general manager Jon Daniels has targeted the week of Oct. 20 for naming a permanent replacement for Ron Washington.
