Some familiar names dot the roster of the Indiana Pacers' rookie/free agent camp team that begins play Saturday in Orlando.
Returning team members Shayne Whittington, Glenn Robinson III, Joe Young and Rakeem Christmas are among the players on the team. Second-round draft pick Georges Niang (Iowa State) also is on the roster, which was announced Tuesday.
The Pacers will open play in the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League at 1 p.m. Saturday against the Orlando Magic Blue team. The rest of their schedule comprises games against Charlotte (July 3), Detroit (July 5) and Oklahoma City (July 6 and 8). All games will be televised by NBATV.
Prior to departing for Orlando on Friday, the Pacers will hold five practices at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, starting Tuesday night. Assistant coach Popeye Jones will coach the squad.
