Oklahoma stadium construction hits roadblock

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 1:42 a.m. ET

Renovations have begun at Oklahoma's Memorial Stadium, but they have also stopped.

Tuesday, a Cleveland County judge upheld an injunction to halt renovations at the stadium.

There is a dispute regarding the contract to provide steel and concrete. A Kansas corporation sued OU saying it awarded the contract to an Oklahoma company but that it was in violation of state law.

The Kansas company, HME submitted the lowest bid, but OU says it wanted a more-experienced contractor instead.

The South end zone is supposed to be completed by the home opener of next season. Tickets have already been sold in those seats that are yet to be built.

The project will continue with other aspects until the steel and concrete issue is resolved.
