NBA Summer League recap: Grizzlies 85, Bucks 81
Second-round pick Malcolm Brogdon turned in his best performance of the summer, while Terran Petteway led the way with 21 points, but the Milwaukee Bucks fell 85-81 to the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday in their third NBA Summer League game.
Brogdon picked up 15 points against the Grizzlies, while adding a team-leading five assists, including an alley-oop to second-year guard Rashad Vaughn late in the fourth quarter.
The Bucks shot 38.3 percent (26-of-67) from the field, while shooting just 28.6 percent (8-for-28) from 3-point range.
The Bucks pulled within three with just 13 seconds remaining in the game, but a late free throw from free-agent forward Jonathan Holmes put the game out of reach.
D.J. Stephens -- who spent a few days with the Bucks on a 10-day contract in 2014 -- led the Grizzlies in scoring with 21 points off of the bench.
Starting five: Petteway and first-round pick Thon Maker started at forward for the Bucks, alongside center Joshua Smith, as well as guards Brogdon and Vaughn.
Draft-pick report: Brogdon shot 7-for-12 from the field, while playing 32:08. His 15 points ranked third on the team behind Vaughn and Petteway. Maker led the Bucks in rebounding once again with six, while picking up 10 points and going 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Stats corner: The Grizzlies outscored the Bucks 36-24 in the paint... Memphis also outscored Milwaukee 45-11 off of the bench... The Bucks committed 13 turnovers while the Grizzlies had 15.
