According to the Kansas City Royals, infielder Raul Mondesi, who made his MLB debut with the team during last year's World Series, will begin a rehab assignment at Wilmington (A-Advanced) Saturday.
Mondesi was suspended 50 games earlier this year by Major League Baseball for violating the Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
Barring rainouts, he will be eligible to resume his season at Northwest Arkansas (AA) on July 4.
Mondesi, 20, was hitting .250 with five doubles, a triple, five homers and 11 stolen bases in his first 25 games with the Naturals.
