
Mission Brief retired, filly 2nd in 2015 Hambletonian

FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) Mission Brief, the filly trotter who finished second in the 2015 Hambletonian, has been retired.
Co-owner Mark Weaver announced the decision on Wednesday. The 5-year-old mare missed did not race last year because of a leg injury.
Mission Brief holds the record as the fastest 2-year-old trotter in harness racing history. She was a Dan Patch Award winner at ages 2 and 3 and won 19 of 27 career races. She earned $1.59 million in purses for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Our Horse Cents Stables, J&T Silva Stables, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
In 2014, Mission Brief trotted a record 1:50.3 mile at The Red Mile in Lexington.
