Cronkite Sports tells the story of Arizona State redshirt freshman quarterback Manny Wilkins and his wayward path troubled youth to Pac-12 football player. His father died when Wilkins was 10, sparking a rebellious stage that included dropping out of high school as a freshman. But after moving in with his aunt and uncle in Novato, Calif., Wilkins turned his life around and is now competing to be backup to senior starter Mike Bercovici.

Other Cronkite Sports features include Jordan Simone's journey from walk-on at two different programs to team leader at ASU; a new-found appreciation for junior college basketball players, who have been major contributors at ASU in recent seasons; and a profile of Kellis High School baseball star Tyler Williams, who is enjoying playing with two younger brothers during his senior season in high school but will soon be faced with the difficult choice of starting his pro career or playing college ball at Arizona State.
