Lynx take Peters with third pick in WNBA Draft
Peters added that she's excited to play with Maya Moore, last year's first overall pick, whom she played against in college when Moore was at Connecticut. Peters has also admired Seimone Augustus since she was in high school, but the player to whom she might want to pay the most attention is veteran Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who at 41 is nearing the end of her career. Reeve said that Peters' game resembles McWilliams-Franklin's, and she'll be able to learn most from the older forward in the early days of her career.
Obviously, this year's draft wasn't the high drama of selecting Moore, perhaps the most highly touted player in women's basketball history. It would be hard to top 2011, but at the same time, the Lynx no longer need a player who can be the lynchpin of a championship squad. They have that already, and a championship to boot. So yes, there might have been a lower level of public excitement this year, but in the long run, that can only be a sign that the Lynx have established themselves as one of the WNBA's best.
