Offensive tackle Corey Hilliard, who was inactive for every game last season, has been re-signed by the Detroit Lions to a two-year contract extension.
Hilliard, 27, was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on March 12.
He played in all 16 games in both 2010 and 2011 with the Lions, mostly on special teams.
The Lions' offensive line is in transition. Right guard Stephen Peterman was released and right tackle Gosder Cherilus is a free agent with indications that he might not be re-signed.
Riley Reiff, last year's first-round draft pick, is expected to start at either tackle or guard. Hilliard could be in the mix if Cherilus doesn't return and/or left Jeff Backus decides to retire.
