Lightning waive Evgeni Nabokov, promote Andrei Vasilevskiy

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning placed veteran reserve goaltender Evgeni Nabokov on waivers and promoted goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy from the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch on Sunday.
Nabokov, 39, was 3-6-2 with a 3.14 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage in 11 appearances (nine starts) with the Lightning this season. However, he was 0-3-1 in his last four appearances and had only played twice in the past month, against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Jan. 2 and the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 12.
Vasilevskiy, 20, is 3-1-0 with a 1.76 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage in four starts with the Lightning this season. He's 14-5-5 with a 2.38 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage with Syracuse this campaign.
The Lightning took Vasilevskiy 19th overall in the 2012 NHL draft.Â
