TAMPA, Fla. -- Jonathan Drouin is returning to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The winger was recalled Sunday from a brief conditioning assignment with the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch. He was assigned to Syracuse on Thursday to receive more live action to complete his recovery from a slight fracture in his right thumb sustained in September.

The third overall pick in the 2013 draft, Drouin, 19, had a goal, two assists and a plus-4 rating in the stint with Syracuse.

The Lightning, who have seven points through five games, also recalled defenseman Luke Witkowski from Syracuse. They play the second game of a five-game road trip Monday at Edmonton.
