The Kings announced Monday that they have retained defenseman Alec Martinez, agreeing on a two-year contract and avoiding arbitration with the player, who turns 26 later this month.
The announcement was made by Kings General Manager Dean Lombardi.
Martinez played in 27 games last season, with a goal, four assists and 10 penalty minutes. He also played in seven of the team’s 18 post-season games, contributing two assists.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound former 2007 fourth-round pick has appeared in 142 regular-season and 33 post-season games.
Three other restricted free agents remain for the Kings: Trevor Lewis, Jordan Nolan and Kyle Clifford.
