Jay Bruce notches career milestone
Cincinnati Reds outfielder Jay Bruce hit his 200th career home run against the San Diego Padres Monday night. Bruce joins just nine other Reds to have hit 200 or more home runs in a Cincinnati uniform.
Bruce sits at No. 9 among the Reds all-time home run leaders, behind Eric Davis and his 203 HRs. Bruce is the only active Reds player in the top 10. Joey Votto is the next active Red with 182 home runs at No. 12.
Bruce's 200th home run came off of Padres' starter Ian Kennedy in the second inning. Bruce launched the first pitch over wall in right-center field to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.
Bruce is just the 319th player in MLB history with 200 career home runs. He also needs just 17 more hits to become just the sixth player to collect 1,000 hits and 200 home runs in a Reds uniform.
This season, Bruce is hitting .248 with a .327 OBP and .473 SLG. Bruce has 96 hits, 27 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 387 at-bats.
