James to attend Team USA minicamp, leave early
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James will attend Team USA's minicamp in preparation for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero. USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said that attendance at the three-day minicamp is mandatory if players want to participate in the 2016 Olympics.
LeBron James will attend @usabasketball mini-camp meeting Monday, but will leave after and not attend workouts, Jerry Colangelo tells Yahoo.

However, James will not participate in workouts and also plans to leave early. LeBron James Family Foundation's annual Family Reunion event takes place in Northeast Ohio on Aug. 13, conflicting with the minicamp and forcing James to leave early.
James last played for Team USA, in 2012 at the Summer Olympics in London, who won gold. James has also competed in the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2006 FIBA World Cup.
And while James' days playing for Team USA reportedly ended in 2013, James will always have a spot on the team if he wants one. "I think LeBron wants to be part of it," Colangelo told SirusXM NBA Radio.
