10. Westview 18-6
There's a big shakeup this week. Cesar Chavez takes over at No. 1 by virtue of an undefeated week, while Desert Mountain and Corona del Sol each drop a spot after a loss. Gilbert creeps up to No. 4, although its one-point win over Dobson on Friday could have been a loss if the referees didn’t wave off Jaron Hopkins’ buzzer-beating layup. Pinnacle surges back into the top five on the heels of a seven-game winning streak, while Mesa and Chaparral each drop a pair of spots after a loss. Brophy is quietly having a very nice season and moves up to No. 8, with a solid win over Gilbert Christian highlighting its week. Hamilton defeated Corona del Sol on Friday to rejoin the rankings, and Westview jumps back in after an impressive win over Millennium, which falls out from No. 8. Mountain View leaves the rankings as well following a loss to Mesa.
Division II
1. Sierra Linda 22-1
2. Sunnyslope 21-3
3. Shadow Mountain 22-3
4. Poston Butte 19-4
5. Nogales 19-4
6. Catalina Foothills 23-3
7. Greenway 18-5
8. Paradise Valley 19-6
9. Saguaro 16-8
10. Flagstaff 17-6
Sierra Linda stays atop the rankings and has now won 20 in a row. Catalina Foothills lost twice last week to drop out of the top five. Sunnyslope, Shadow Mountain, Poston Butte and Nogales all went undefeated last week and move up a spot. Poston Butte has won eight straight games. Greenway and Paradise Valley flip-flop after the Trojans were beaten by Saguaro. The Sabercats had a 3-0 week to rejoin the rankings, while Flagstaff holds steady at No. 10. Cactus Shadows drops out.
Division III
1. Gilbert Christian 20-3
2. Thatcher 19-3
3. Window Rock 21-2
4. Chinle 18-3
5. Scottsdale Christian 15-6
Gilbert Christian lost again to a Division I team (Brophy) last week, but until a Division III foe can knock off the Knights, they will stick at No. 1. Thatcher also lost to a Division I opponent (Buena) and will stay at No. 2. Window Rock has won 14 straight games and hangs steady at No. 3, while Chinle and Scottsdale Christian had perfect weeks as well to keep the top five the same.
Division IV
1. Yuma Catholic 22-2
2. Desert Christian 23-4
3. Joy Christian 24-2
4. El Capitan 11-2
5. Scottsdale Prep 17-4
The top three went undefeated last week, with Desert Christian’s win over Arizona Lutheran on Friday the most impressive of the bunch. Those three don’t move, while El Capitan takes advantage of the Arizona Lutheran loss to move up to No. 4. The Coyotes drop from the rankings, replaced by Scottsdale Prep, which has won six straight games.
